My Life in a Nutshell

Welcome back! Or if this is your first time to the blog, WELCOME! I realize that some of you may not know me, you may just know me as Mrs./Pastor Ivette, or might know me from a distance! So I thought I would give y’all a quick little overview of my life! Especially since you’ll be following my journey, y’all deserve to know who I am.

Hi, my name is Ivette Steger and I’m 25 years old!

I’ve been married to the best man in the whole world for 6 years now, My Superman…. I mean Micah! It’s so crazy, it feels like our wedding day was yesterday, but simultaneously feels like we have been married for a lifetime!

We have 2 amazing kids- Ella, our oldest who’s 3, and Maddox, our baby who’s 1 and half. They are the cutest and funnest kids ever! Just watch our InstaStories, they won’t disappoint! Haha.

The 4 us makes up he Steger Squad!

We live our life in the great state of TEXAS! Dallas to be exact! But I am not originally from Dallas, Texas. I’m originally from Maryland, the Washington DC area(30 minutes away, IF my dad is driving!). I loved growing up there! I had a great childhood! My Mom and Dad raised my 2 younger brothers and I in a good Christian home. Of course there were a few bumps in the road… SORRY MAMA & PAPA! But I eventually got my act together. Haha!

I re-dedicated my life to the Lord when I was 13. I wish I could say it was smooth sailing after that, but it wasn’t. I was a hormonal, dramatic, boy crazy, and stubborn teenage girl and sometimes that got the best of me. I went through a time where I hated myself. I went to a dark place and thought I was worthless. I lost hope. But, JESUS! He saved me! It was a difficult road to recovery, but He sent someone my way to help reaffirm my identity, push me to be and do better, and to love me unconditionally. He sent my best friend, my boo, my love!

When I was 16 I met the love of my life during a youth camp at Liberty University. For the first time, I was challenged and held accountable with my walk with God. Micah didn’t change me to be a better person, but he helped me redirect my focus to the the One who could make me be a better person! I could go on & on about how amazing Micah is! Long story short, after we met, I went back to Maryland and he went back to North Carolina. From there we began a long distance dating relationship and engagement that in total lasted for 3 years(3 YEARS.. LONG DISTANCE.. IN HIGHSCHOOL! All of the odds were against us! haha) We got married in 2012, and we lived in NC for a month before we moved to TEXASSS!(Our story is a great story if I must say so myself! I definitely will write about. It was all Jesus! I still look back and think “What the crap happend?! How are we here!?” Hahaha)

6 years later and we’re still here in the great state of TEXAS! Praise the Lord! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Texas! I love Dallas! I never want to leave. 6 years ago, you would NEVER catch we saying that! 6 years ago, I would have laughed in your face if you told me I would be living here. Why? Because I STRONGLY DISLIKE with a PASSION the Dallas Cowboys… moving on… HTTR!! HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!

During first 3 years here, Micah went to Bible college at Christ for the Nations Institute while I worked at the school. (that is where the Jonas Brothers grew up for a little while, fun little fact. I actually live a few doors down from where they use to live. lol) We were so broke in the beginning, but we lived life to the fullest! We made life-long friend, traveled the country, we had to sleep on the floor, eventually up-graded to an air mattress, and when that popped, we slept on our couch for awhile, then finally got gifted with a bed… We went through a lot the first few years. But man, those years where so much fun! I think back to that time and I just remember all the good times we had, I never looked back and feel sorry for myself. I honestly think those were some of the best years of my life!

After Micah graduated we got hired on at Christ For the Nations, to work in a department called Youth for the Nations(YFN). We are the Assistant Directors, and we get to work with about 100 interns throughout the year and we host a camp with about 4,400+ students in a 4 week span every summer. We have been doing this for 3 years now and we LOVE IT! We are serving under our Spiritual Parents(mentors), the most amazing leaders and just greatest people you could EVER meet- pastors Chris and Erica Estrada! And we get to run the camp with the best intern body! We shed blood, sweat and tears together, and I wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else.

I have a pretty great life! Sure, unfortunate things happen, but I’m thankful and blessed. I’m pretty sure I’m God’s favorite? But in all seriousness, everything that’s happened, all the ups & downs has brought me here, to this moment! I couldn’t be more excited! Now you get to be a part of my story!

I’m excited to take this next step in my business… YEP! This website, this Dream Project I’m working on is going to turn into a business! What kind of business? You’ll have to wait and see! Come back on Friday if you want to hear another clue as to what this new business will be! See ya then!
