The Day of Love!

It’s Valentine’s Day! My FAVORITE holiday of all holidays! I know so many people that HATE Valentine’s Day. It’s normally because they’re single and they feel left out OR they think love shouldn’t need a special day to be celebrated. I look at this day very differently. You don’t have to love the holiday like I do but I want to share my heart on why I love it and give you guys a little sneak peek on what I’ll be doing today!

Growing up, my mom made Valentine’s Day so fun and special for us. In the morning she would put Valentine’s Day goodie bags at our seats, she would make a fun breakfast, and for dinner, she would go all out and make something special. She also set the vibe of the holiday by decorating the house as if Cupid threw up all over it. It was so fun! I would give Valentine’s Day cards to everyone in my class. As a class we made crafts, played games, we passed out candy. We had so much fun doing it.

Why can’t we celebrate Valentine’s Day like we did when we were kids? Everyone should have fun, and EVERYONE should feel loved. We never thought twice about if we were in a relationship or not, we just had fun celebrating all together. That’s the real spirit of Valentine’s Day!

February 14th is a day set aside to highlight loving one another. Just like a birthday is a day set aside to celebrate someone’s life. Just like Christmas is a day to celebrate the birth of Jesus! I don’t see anything wrong taking advantage of it and making someone feel EXTRA special. It’s about being intentional. Yes, you should show how much you love someone every day, but I don’t see anything wrong with going the extra mile on a specific day. Why not? At the end of the day, everyone benefits from celebrating each other.

I want to show my kids what it looks like to love someone, to go above and beyond. Not just romantic love but a love between family and friends. I also want to show them it can be fun to love someone. It doesn’t have to be so serious.

I just love love! Now I can pass on my family’s Valentine’s Day traditions to my kids! I am super excited to spend time with my family! I have their goodie bags ready, I got them cute little Valentine’s day outfits, candy & a few little crafty things. I woke up early to make them a fun breakfast. Heart shaped eggs, heart-shaped strawberries, with heart-shaped toast served on their Valentine’s Day plates! It’s going to be a great day, I’m so excited.

Needless to say, I’M EXCITED for today! I can’t wait to see my family’s faces when they wake up and see their goodie bags and their breakfast. I hope you have an awesome, fun, love-filled day! Happy Valentine’s Day!
