Don’t worry, I’m not taking a long break! I’m just going to take a little break from blogging as we transition into the summertime because the summertime is a really busy season for us. There are a few reasons why I decided to take a little break.

As you may know, Micah and I are directors of a youth camp called Youth For the Nations. It’s a summer camp that lasts 6 weeks; 2 weeks of preparation and 4 weeks of the actual camp. We have over 4,708+ people coming to camp this year! It’s pretty wild! So as you can imagine we’re going to be pretty busy.

When we took on this role we decided we were going to do it together. I want to be at every meeting, every service and be there to make decisions. We do that throughout the year, but the summertime is a completely different ball game. I want to make sure that I’m not just physically present but I’m 100% emotionally and mentally present.

Another reason for the break is because of my doula business. I have meetings with a couple of clients before, during, and after YFN and I also have two clients that are due toward the beginning and at the end of YFN.

I took on exactly as many clients and meetings as I knew I could handle. With YFN in mind, I put a cap on who I could take during the summer. I didn’t want to overload myself and stress myself out and bring that emotion with me when I meet with my clients. I want my clients to feel confident that I am there for them. Putting a cap on my workload has helped keep my mind at ease and stress-free.

Even though YFN doesn’t start yet, I want to start my break from blogging now for my family’s sake. This summer is going to be crazy. I want to make sure that I spend as much time as possible focusing on my family. Our job can put a lot of strain on a family. Micah and I decided long ago that we were always going to put our family first. We are not going to let pressure from a job affect our family. One of the ways we are going to do that is by having TONS of family time so when it gets busy we are not as put off when the going gets tough. We have plans to go to the zoo, the movies, and have lots of pool time! We are going to make the most of it!

It’s going to be a little weird not blogging. I have my schedule in place, and I’m used to sticking to it. But I know that taking this little break will be good for me, my responsibilities at YFN, my clients and, most importantly, my family. I’ll still be active on social media so you can still keep up with what I’m doing there! I’ll be back to writing soon! I hope you guys have the best summer!
